Have a healthy breakfast!

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

It has always been a fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it’s so true! Eating breakfast will give your metabolism a kick start and will fill you with energy to keep hunger locked up till lunch time!

Being full up will also stop you from snacking during the day and will mean that you don’t over face yourself at lunch time with a sandwich ten times the size of one you would normally have.

If you like cereal, make sure you go with the low fat options and if you are still hungry, fill up on fresh fruit. You don’t need to lay off a good English breakfast either, just make sure you grill everything rather than fry it and maybe go for a quick walk afterwards.

Ways to stay motivated

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

When you are dieting, trying to stay motivated can prove quite difficult. When you get in from work, the last thing you want to do is go to the gym for a grueling 2 hour workout, sitting on the sofa watching TV seems a lot more appealing.

There are a number of ways to help you stay motivated and will help you to avoid being tempted by high fat foods.

  • If you are heading out to a party where you know there will be snacks galore, eat something before you go! A bowl of cereal with semi skimmed milk is a much better idea than a big bowl of nuts or crisps.
  • Drink plenty of water. This should help fill your stomach and keep hunger locked up that little bit longer.
  • Chewing sugar free gum will help stop you snacking. if your feeling tempted by that bar of chocolate, opt for the gum instead!
  • Keep the fatty foods locked away in the cupboard. That gorgeous looking Dairy Milk is better out of site, out of mind!

Lunchtimes! Ahhhhhh!

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Lunchtimes at work are a killer for me! Trying to find something healthy and substantial from the shop down the road is becoming difficult and the classic, dry salad I buy everyday, seems the best out of a rather boring selection. I always tell myself that I’m going to make my lunch in the morning before work, but end up sleeping through my alarm and not having any time. This is a really rubbish excuse to not eating healthily and I really should prepare my lunch the night before. I’m also trying to buy  healthy alternatives to the chocolate bar I normally demolish at 3pm, to something low fat or even a piece of fruit. If you are in the same boat as me, then planning is the key!

The Diet – Already not going to plan!

Monday, January 11th, 2010

OK, so the diet hasn’t really gone to plan! The weekends are a nightmare for me! Rather than prepare myself a nice, fresh salad or something for tea, reaching for the takeaway menu seems a lot more appealing! The amount of take aways I have had over the past couple of days is disgusting, but with the weather as it is, a nice warm chicken Jalfrezi seems to be spot on and warms me up a treat! Joining the gym has also been postponed, I’m blaming it on the snow! However, after this weekend I have decided that I’m going to be good. Myself and a friend are having fruit for lunch and are planning on visiting the gym at least 3 times a week, can’t promise you it will last much longer than next weekend though! Are you having problems sticking to your new years resolution?

New Year, New Me!

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

It’s 2010, my year for a new me! I say this every single January and try and convince myself that this is the year I get thin, but I’m determined it will be! I wouldn’t say I am over weight, but I could do with toning up in the normal places. I have also booked a girly holiday this year, so the bikini body will need to be up to scratch and looking good!
I also finished with my boyfriend of 2 years (poor me!) just before Christmas, so sticking to my diet plan should be easier than ever, with no excuses to give up!
I’m planning on bringing in my own lunch to work too, the Subways and McDonald’s have really got to stop.
Wish me luck, I’ll update you on my progress!
